How to Write Effective CTAs on Social Media: A Guide for Marketers

Do you recall the last time you were compelled to sign up for a free one-month trial or download a guide?

That was an effective call to action, or a CTA.

A good CTA can do wonders in the marketing world—it can drive more visitors to your content, generate sales, and increase leads and conversion rates.

A CTA prompts the reader to do something—sign up for a subscription, download an e-book, attend an event, click for more information, and so on.

It’s about providing your reader with an actionable task, most often appearing as a button, in-text link, or an image, answering the question “Now what?”

Honeyweb Staff Introductions: Steven Hamilton

Steven Hamilton (Managing Director of Honeyweb Online Marketing Solutions)

Steven is an ex AFL/SANFL professional footballer, having played for the North Melbourne Kangaroos and the North Adelaide Roosters. He played in the successful North Adelaide premiership team in 1991.

Due to injuries, Steven decided to retire from professional football and concentrate on a career in design, illustration and sales.

It was during this time Steven discovered a little thing called the Internet. Instantly seeing its potential, he quickly joined Global Internet Directories as a sales agent and soon excelled, winning the “Australasian Sales Achievement Award for 1997.”

With Steven’s design background, it soon became apparent the majority of websites were being designed by computer experts and lacked the professional appearance produced in traditional media. It was time for this to change, and Steven most certainly achieved this.

Establishing his first online marketing agency in 1998, and Honeyweb PTY LTD in July 2007, Steven has nearly 20 years' experience developing successful online marketing solutions for well over 500 clients.

Steven's favourite quote: “It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice.”

Facebook Posts 53% Jump In Ad Revenue

Facebook continues to drive home revenue thanks to mobile advertising, with the social media giant recording significant growth during the final quarter of 2016

According to Facebook’s fourth-quarter results, advertising revenue was up a whopping 53 per cent to US$8.63 billion, with mobile advertising accounting for 84 per cent of all ad revenue – up 5 per cent on the previous corresponding period in 2015.

The massive boost in ad revenue drove Facebook’s total revenue for the last quarter of 2016 up 51 per cent to US$8.81 billion.

The results come after a new report found that social platforms such as Facebook generate most of their ad revenue from native advertising, and will continue to dominate overall native ad spending through 2021 – particularly native video ads.

These statistics are a strong indication of how powerful Facebook is in regards to advertising and managing your business' branding.
