Facebook's rolling out a new tab called ‘Recent Ad Activity’

Which will enable users to view any of the ads they’ve clicked, Liked, commented on or shared on the platform, which could help improve the attribution of Facebook ad performance.

The feature was first spotted by Devesh Logendran and Facebook has now confirmed that the tab has been rolled out to all US users, with Facebook currently assessing which other regions they want to test the tool in.

Facebook pledges to improve approach to political advertising

In a Facebook Live broadcast, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the social media giant is taking steps to make the platform less vulnerable

To problematic political issues like the revelation that it sold ads to Russian operatives seeking to undermine democracy in the most recent U.S. presidential election and other elections worldwide.

The changes will include hiring new employees around the world focused on election integrity and providing users with a hub where they can track political ads and who funds them.

Facebook has unveiled its latest measure to help stop the spread of fake and misleading content on their platform, with the announcement that Pages who repeatedly share disputed content will be banned from advertising on Facebook outright.

Last December, after Facebook saw a wave of criticism for their role in spreading fake news in the lead-up to the US Presidential Election

The Social Network announced one of their first new measures to curb the spread of such content, partnering with third party fact-checkers to flag questionable stories being shared on the platform.

Facebook Makes Certain Post Types Ineligible for Promotion as they Hone in on Business Objectives

Facebook has announced that they’re removing the ability to promote certain Page posts as they shift their ad products towards more specific business objectives, as opposed to social stats.

As explained by Marketing Land, up till now, Pages have been able to boost any post on their Page, including change of profile picture updates, watching TV show status, location check-ins, etc.

Facebook says these types of promotions are ‘lesser used’, and importantly, ‘not tied to advertiser objectives’, so they’re removing the ability to use them in promotions in order to put more focus on their other ad types, which do drive direct response.

Facebook’s Testing a New Way to Target Ads to People Who’ve Visited Your Store

Facebook's testing a new Custom Audiences option which would enable businesses to target ads at people who’ve visited their store, with a new ‘Store Visits’ option appearing for some advertisers.

As you can see from the above, the option would enable advertisers to ‘create a list of people who’ve previously visited your business location’.

How, exactly, Facebook would compile this list would likely come down to matching store visitors with Location Services switched on against in store Wi-Fi signals, enabling them to estimate location.
