Study: Digital Disruption Is Inevitable And 75 Per Cent Of Brands Will Fail

Nearly all of the chief strategy officers (CSOs) surveyed by Accenture  around the world say  digital disruption will reshape their industries but very few however are equipped to navigate the change.

That’s a key finding from a study called ‘Thriving on Disruption’,  by the Accenture Institute for High Performance. According to Paul Nunes, managing director, Accenture Institute for High Performance, “Rapid and disruptive change is coming, regardless of the industry that you operate in.”

Fairfax Signals End Of Weekday Newspapers

Fairfax has acted on speculation that the end is nigh for its weekday newspapers, with a leaked email revealing that the media group’s print focus will now be on its weekend titles.

According to The Australian’s Media Diary section, the email from a Fairfax executive paints a glass-half-empty picture of the newspaper market, claiming that the Monday to Friday paper will become “obsolete” as readers turn to digital alternatives.

Alphabet/Google’s Profit Soars 21 Per Cent

Alphabet, Google’s parent company, has reported its fastest growth rate in two years as companies bought more ads on its search engine and other products, plus users clicked more on those ads.

Alphabet revenues rose 21 per cent to $US21.5 billion in the second quarter over a year prior. Excluding payments to advertising partners, revenue was $US17.5 billion.

Study: 75% Of Businesses Say Digital Transformation Is Their Top Priority

Most senior executives are confident about the success of the digital transformation efforts despite more than 60 per cent saying they still need to make significant organisational changes to reach their goals.

The figures are contained in a  study, by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) on behalf of Pegasystems. Furthermore three quarters of respondents said digital transformation is their company’s top strategic priority in 2016, and poor financial performance looms as the top consequence for not meeting this goal.
