Twitter’s Testing a New Format for Moments, Which Moves Away from Side Scrolling

Twitter seems a bit confused about Moments, and what they want it to be.

Actually, no, they’ve been very clear about what they’d like Moments to be from the start – a simplified way to showcase the best of what Twitter has to offer, making it easier for non-users to see why they might want to sign-up.

But despite its promise, and the hype around Moments’ launch, it’s never really lived up to expectations.

Facebook Announces Merging of Messenger Day and Facebook Stories, Adds New Stories Tools

Facebook is removing its ‘Messenger Day’ Snapchat clone within Messenger, and replacing it with cross-posted Facebook Stories, as part of a revamp of the way in which their Stories tools function.

As reported back in September, Messenger Day (70 million daily users) hadn't caught on the way Instagram Stories has (300 million daily users), and Facebook says there was also some confusion over how the tool worked.

To clarify this, and as part of a wider effort to boost Facebook Stories – which has also seemingly failed to gain significant momentum – any story you post on Facebook or Messenger will now be viewable on both, broadening the opportunities of the two functions.

Twitter Doubles the Length of Display Names, Providing a New Profile Option

Twitter has announced that you can now have a longer display name – up to 50 characters long, more than double the previous 20 character limit.

So, cool, right? Now you can get more creative with your display name – which, it’s important to note, is not your @username.

Your display name is your actual name, or business name, which appears at the top of your tweets.

Twitter’s 280 character limit has now been rolled out to everyone.

In this post I’ll give you a few tweet ideas on how you can use the new update for your brand or business.
