Snapchat Releases Q3 Earnings, Falls Short of Market Expectations
Snapchat has released its Q3 earnings report, and as expected, they once again highlight the challenges the company faces as it seeks to further establish itself within the social landscape.
First off, on users – Snapchat added 4.5 million daily active users for the quarter, taking it to a total of 178 million DAU.
That’s not much of a bump for a ‘growing’ platform, but more telling is the actual growth rate.

Facebook’s Adding Some New Poll Presentation Options, Including GIFs
A month after adding a new audience polling option to Instagram Stories, parent company Facebook is now also adding a new poll option
With all profiles and Pages now able to add GIFs and images in their Facebook polls to generate more interest.
Facebook users have had access to simple polls in Groups, on event pages and within Messenger for some time, but not with the capacity to add images - and more importantly, GIFs.

Periscope Announces Increased Broadcaster Payouts via Super Hearts Program
Back in June, Twitter-owned live-streaming app Periscope launched a new creator payment process called ‘Super Hearts’.
Super Hearts are an upgraded form of emoji response which viewers can use to donate funds to a Periscope broadcaster
Super Hearts are purchased in packages and submitted during a Periscope stream, with the creator getting 70% of the money generated, via the responses, during their streams.

Instagram Adds New Stories Preview Format to Prompt More Engagement
If the rapid growth of Instagram Stories wasn’t enough to make you consider how you might use the option for your business, this new update might provide another push.
Instagram’s adding a new Stories presentation format which will appear mid-feed, in addition to the Stories profile bubbles which appear at the top of the app screen.
The new format has been in testing for a few weeks, but Instagram has now confirmed that it’s being rolled out more broadly.

Facebook Announces New Ad Transparency Options Amidst Ongoing Investigation
After Twitter announced their new Ad Transparency Center earlier this week, which will give users access to more insight into how organizations are using their platform for promotional purposes
Facebook has announced that it too will be upping it’s transparency efforts, in the wake of the investigation into how both networks were used to spread political messaging ahead of the 2016 US Presidential Election.
